Radical Love in New Mexico

Radical Love has been quoted, on air, by the KKIM Christian Radio Station, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
With thanks to Ryan Freeman and our friends at KKIM, Radical Love also, made a great gift-giveaway, to some of the couples that attended the FamilyLife, Marriage to Remember Weekend, conference on February 11-13. 2011.

BREAKING NEWS: Now making it’s way across the US, last seen, Radical Love was headed for Albuquerque, New Mexico!

With their AM-1000 and FM-94.7 channels, the staff at KKIM provide THE place for Christian radio in New Mexico.  A few weeks back we were excited to connect with one of their ministry representatives, Ryan Freeman.  KKIM is partnering with Family Life Ministries to bring a Weekend to Remember Marriage Event at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, February 11-13 2011.

Radical Love is heading there too.  Copies of Radical Love will be given away at the event.  Our prayer is that the couples who receive the book will be blessed as they learn more about the Radical Love God intends for them.

Are we there yet?

One of the most popular countries in all of the Arab world erupted in mass protests on January 25, 2011. After nearly two weeks of deadly civil unrest, Egypt attempts to return to some semblance of normalcy. However, the bloody conflict continues as the country await the transition of power from Hosni Mubarak, as he has promised.

Dead from who knows what: A few weeks back, thousands of birds suddenly dropped from the sky. In much the same way, thousands of fish washed up on several of the seashores in the US. Floods, fires, cyclones and earthquakes continue to ravage many parts of the earth. There is economic crisis in many major countries. “Are we there yet?”

The question my eight year old asks me, whenever we go on road trips; is also the question most Christians, and even a few who don’t know what they believe,  are asking themselves, as we listen to news reports, read the headlines, or talk to our friends who are living in a constant state of hopeless and despair.  Is this it?  Is the end near?  Are we there yet? We can’t say for sure, but we do know this:

Never has need been greater for God’s message of Radical Love and forgiveness. While the daily news, broadcasted throughout the world, continues to evoke fear in the hearts of billions, for all those who have placed their hope in Christ, the goal remains the same: to combat fear and evil with the “real news,” Love wins!

I have been so blessed as the testimonials continue to pour in.  People across the globe tell me that because they finally understand the truth about God’s most precious gift, LOVE, they are living transformed Spirit-filled lives.

How can you help?

Radical Love to India

This Global Village took a team of missionaries from Kelowna, to India, in December 2010. Just days before their scheduled departure, I received an urgent call from my friend Renata. She was one of the missionaries. Renata was going to be speaking to a group of young women and she wanted to use Radical Love, as her teaching platform. She had no idea how many girls she would be speaking to, so Renata asked me for 20 copies of Radical Love.

Between Kim and I, we only had a few copies left. With no time to place an order for a new shipment, we, quickly, called all the local book stores. In just two days, we were able to collect exactly 20 copies,  which was all the books left in Kelowna.  Radical Love was stored, safely, in the backpacks of each of the travelers, enroute to India. We were blessed to receive this photo from Renata, and to hear of how God used her, and Radical Love, to speak to teach a group of 20 young women, about God’s love.

Attune Yourself to His Spirit

You might argue, with evidence to support, that the Spirit of God is all but absent from our world.  Especially this Christmas.  You could be right.  If doom and gloom is all you see, right now, I’d like to ask you; “which spirit are you focused on?”

Without question, evil exists.  God, as subtle as He is, however, is far more powerful. I have a special invitation for you; Will you join me on an investigation, of sorts?  Your mission, should you choose to accept it: For the next 24 hours, attune yourself to His spirit.  What do I mean?  Intentionally look for evidence to support that the Spirit of GOD is active, in your life.

Here are a few observations, from my own life:

I do not have a printer.  One that works, that is. Neither does Kim.  Frequently, we send our printing to be done by a local company.  The manager of the print department knows me quite well, by now.  Today I went to pick up our order.  She politely rang in the amount and I paid her.  She paused for a moment, before turning to go.  With a beautiful smile, she said, “Merry Christmas!”  This, alone, took me by surprise.  But what happened next, made the tears well up in my eyes; “God bless you,” she said.  I don’t know if she is a believer, but she knows that we are.  She found it in her heart to give me God’s blessing, today.  I prayed, with gratitude, for two broken printers.  God is sovereign!  Over everything.

Minutes later, I arrived home to find a voice mail from the librarian at Tae’s school.  She knows I am selective in what I let my son read.  She called to let me know about some books she had set aside especially for Tae, to read over the holiday. I prayed, with gratitude, for someone who understands. God cares!  Even about the little details.

Jadyn got engaged to a beautiful girl.  Her name is Cherise.  They will get married next July.  This December, Jadyn will finish his third year, at school.  He made the Dean’s list.  Cherise is in her final year of Social Work.  They are both working hard at school and, in addition, they both have jobs to help them, financially.  Recently, they both became the recipient of Government grants.  I prayed, with gratitude, for a beautiful daughter-in-law and that God is taking care of my kids. God provides. For all of our needs.

Radical Love, is going to India. Who would have thought?  Our good friend Renata, along with her son Matteo, leaves this morning.  The two of them will spend time in Northern India, in an orphange called, This Child of Mine.  Pray for them.  Renata will speak to a group of young, 20′s something, girls about “true” love. She will teach some of principles of Radical Love, through her own personal testimony.  Each girl will receive a copy of the book, and hear a podcast message, from Kim and I. I prayed, with gratitude, for technology. I prayed, with gratitude, that God found faithful believers, who care enough to carry heavy books in their backpacks, all the way to India. God speaks!  Throughout all the earth.
